I Give Thanks...
I Give Thanks
I give thanks for the wife who says “we’re having hot-dogs for dinner”, because she is here with me and not with someone else.
…for the husband who’s lounging on the sofa, because he’s here with me and not out at a bar.
…for the teen-age son or daughter who's complaining about washing the dishes, because he/she is here at home and not wandering the streets.
…for the taxes I have to pay, because it means I have a job.
…for the mess I have to clean up after a party, because it means I’m surrounded by friends.
…for my tight-fitting clothes, because it means I have enough to eat.
…for the shadow that follows me as I work, because it means I am outside in the sun.
…for the yard that needs mowing and the windows that need cleaning, because it means I have a home.
…for all the complaints I hear about the government, because it means that we have the right to speak freely.
…for the parking spot I found at the far end of the lot, because it means I can walk, and I have a car.
…for the huge electric bill, because it means I have electricity.
…for the lady behind me in church who sings out of tune, because it means I can hear.
…for the huge pile of clothes I have to wash, because it means I have enough to wear.
…for the exhaustion I feel at the end of each day, because it means I am able to work.
…for the alarm that wakes me up every morning, because it means I am still alive.
…and finally, for all the emails I get, because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.
